Richard and Angela have a mention on world maggies. They recently sent me this picture of their beautiful 290M19 with 290 horsepower from a Deutz BF8L413F and the distinctive optional full cab spoiler. It looks like it is still doing a good job for them even at nearly 30 years old, though not quite as not as old as the AEC Mammoth Major 30T tanker on the back.
I have asked Richard if the Maggie is still regularly working , but I hope it is.

I have been told today that although in the UK the forward control maggies had an 'F' in their code and if it was a normal control(hauber) the 'F' was just left out, in Germany they use an 'H' for hauber !
Oh well you live and learn ? Christian runs this 37 year old V10 2-axle prime mover and trailer in his business. He is also the owner of the Unique 4 axle Maggie on 'restorations' and a great website with nostalgic pictures for truck and construction vehicle fans at www.

Stefano lives in Milan. On a recent Nile Cruise he was surprised to see several old Magirus Deutz still working hard along the banks of the river. I say Magirus Deutz, but actually they may be products of the
El Nasr Automotive company, The 'NASCO' company started assembling kits in about 1959 under license from Klockner Humboldt Deutz. He also saw another one working near Aswan. The Bus bodywork has probably been made locally and grafted onto the chassis to suit their requirements.

The Deutz Stallion was in production until 2001, it was made in two models, the 130 with F6L913 and the 150 with the Turbo BF6L913.
Argentina has been quite active in using Deutz engines over the years and even have a factory still producing them under licence.
It is not widely known that there was a manufacturing facility in Argentina where they assembled the 200D16 Rigid and Artic models, and the 200RS bus until the late '70's.
Later on in 1992 they made their own Deutz powered model as shown below.
Dodge Argentina also offered a Deutz engined model, the DD.
Thank you to Esteban for your information. Click HERE to find out much more about the Argentine Magirus Deutz and Deutz history.

Andrey has sent me proof that Magirus Deutz really can take it ! These two trucks above have already survived the now famous 'Baikal Amur' contract of the late 70s-early 80s, where they worked in some of the lowest temperatures in the world. Now they must think they are on holiday in a world of tarmac and a more sensible climate. Life begins at 40 they used to say. These trucks are proof.
There were 9131 Maggies on the railway building contract. Where are they all now ??

Here are two more Maggies from Russia, the younger Green version has an unusual extended cab.

Christian has sent details of his amazing 52 year old Maggie which is still doing a job of work. It looks to be in near original condition, but it has had an indicator upgrade.
If you click for the larger pics you will clearly see the original factory fitted 'trafficators'are fitted behind the cab doors.

This truck looks like New and is in regular use by the fire division of DB. Stuart sent this picture of this recent visitor to his workshop. Although it is sixteen years old it has only completed 13000 km. At that rate it will be around for many years to come. |

There are 3 of these up on the Yorkshire Moors. Needless to say they have been very busy recently. I know there are other Deutz powered Snow Ploughs and gritters in many counties. I saw one on the TV working hard at East Midlands Airport, I think ?

Chris and Debbie Rigg are the proud drivers of these fine trucks. The photographs taken by Thomas clearly show the type of terrain which Maggies like... open, wild and demanding.
Burlington Slate Ltd have quarries near Kirkby-in-Furness in the Lake District. They produce slate of the very highest quality which is used for roofing, flooring and wallcovering on some of the most prestigious projects. This 'many-million year old' natural material is moved around the site by three 232D26AK maggies. The have had their wheelbase extended to accomodate special heavy duty platform bodywork to handle this arduous task. Quality products on Quality trucks.

Petr sent his picture from The Karahnjukar HydroPower Project in Egilsstadhir in Iceland.
The site is enormous and is
harnessing the power of some of east Iceland’s great glacial rivers .
It is testament to the quality of the Maggie that an important safety job is entrusted to a vehicle of a 'certain age' . It is also amazing that this is the same model featured on the'fire' page that was working in Africa. Hot or Cold, no problem ! To find out more about this wonderful development in a very inhospitable but beautiful area, click 'here'.

This impressive truck is in regular use by the German Air Force in Hannover. It is one of several which are used as kerosene tankers on the base. Its incredible condition is testament to it's high standard of maintenance by Stuart and his colleagues. |

Lucas and Maria Laura are the proud owners of this very rare immaculate truck. It is 1 of only 14 ever exported to Argentina and is regularly used on groundworks and other projects in North Patagonia .
Can you believe this truck is 35 years old ? . The pictures were taken in March 2008 !! Amazing.

This is the truck I have had on my links page for about a year. What a coincidence .
I would be smiling too, if I owned a truck like this one. Svein's truck is not one of those showpiece trucks which only comes out on sunny days. It goes to work regularly to earn its keep.
See it working below in the sort of conditions it was designed for.
