 |
Holger, his family and a friend have completed this wonderful project. The starting point was a vehicle manufacured in 1960, and supplied to the Belgian Army. After many years service at its base in Aachen and four years hard work, it now looks as good as the day it left the factory. This 19Litre V12 powered beauty is just one of several military maggies in their collection. Click on pics below for more !!! |

Eduardo is proving that the Maggie bug is a powerful one and now, apart from the wonderful bus, he has recently bought this retired Fire Pump. He is intending to restore this to its former glory. This truck is in Caviahue province of Neuquen Argentina. |
|
I had an interesting email from Argentina today, and by the wonders of Google Translate I have been told of a 1977 Magirus Deutz bus which is till running well over the Atlantic. Its a 200RS12 with an F8L413 V8 mounted in the tail. The Factory built Bus chassis is fitted with (Now Retro) local bodywork by Rosario San Antonio, Santa Fe province. It has 45 RECLINING SEATS ! and Webasto Air Con. Eduardo would like to make contact with any enthusiasts of this model. elk@kosik.com.ar. He and his mates are reconditioning this bus to preserve the memory in Argentina.

Sean in Ireland has recently become the proud owner of what is, according to him, the only Magirus Deutz fire vehicle to operate in Ireland. It is Ex-Dublin Fire Brigade, and here it is a few years ago.
It is fitted with Bodywork by HUGHES This is a New name to me. |

This is an All-Wheel drive unit with a V6 Deutz F6L413 . It was unusual in that it had an Automatic gearbox which has been removed and not replaced so it is not exactly mobile at the moment. HELP REQUIRED Sean is trying to source a
ZF AK 6-80 6 speed box or one complete with a GV-80 front mounted splitter. This box was used in most of the UK V8 Maggies. I believe this would probably fit? If anyone can help please contact me roland@magirusdeutz.co.uk . |

Jason in Ireland has now decided to keep this fine truck, complete with its tipping body, loading crane a trailer mount. He hopes to use it in his timber business. |

Richard who lives on the South Coast, has managed to obtain this wonderful truck.
It's an A7500 Jupiter 6x6 driven by a F8L714. It looks to be in fine condition and runs well.
I went to to see this truck and its amazing.
I believe it may be the Oldest Running Maggie in the UK. There are plans for an extensive restoration .
This may take some time but the results will be worth the wait.
The engine sounds amazing and You Can Hear It by Clicking HERE and HERE.
HELP PLEASE - All Jupiter experts. Has anyone got details of the Unusual air operated, Low Air Pressure warning indicator involving a moving signal arm which was on the dash in front of the driver please ? |

Hans Diederich has taken on the job of a twin restoration. He is keeping one for himself, but the other is for a lucky client. If his past projects are anything to go by, they should look like new. |

As I said... It does look like new. The tipper body is now going to get the same treatment, and the second truck is about to start the same procedure. |
 |
And here is the finished project. Another wonderful Maggie saved to live again. Well done Hans. |

Yes it is. Your eyes are not deceiving you. A 4 axle Hauber ! Christian tells me there were 3 of these built. 2 off 256, and 1 off 310. 1 of the 256's is in Cologne, but this was the only 310 built. Its a real Special with basically a 6x4 layout with an additional fourth axle which steers. Even the bodywork is unusual. It looks like a steel 15cu.m. scow end body, but if you look carefully you will see the upturned exhaust outlet which connects to the tipping body. This directs the gases through the double walled body to heat the contents such as tarmac and then the gases exit at the rear of the body. It obviously needs the twin ram underfloor tipping gear to lift this large body. Apparently the vehicle is still running well but just needs a bit of a tidy up. Well done Christian for preserving this unique Maggie |

This is one of seven KW16 built for use by the Western Allied forces in Berlin. This particular one
was assigned to '52nd XG Alexander Barracks - REME Berlin'. It has been fully restored to the highest level and stands representative of all that is Magirus Deutz, in that it is built from the ground up, to carry out a particular job in the best way possible, with no compromise in specification or quality, using the best of materials and expertise available. ( long Sentence ?) It is a truly stunning machine . See below for another Thomas Knauf project. |
Whats that in the undergrowth ? Lets drag it out and have a look ....
Its a1957 A12000 Uranus |

 |
Who could abandon this beauty ? A Uranus V12 Kran truck in Ex-Mainz Feuerwehr colours.
Quite a lot of work to be done, but the bell on the front wing looks new !
It will be well worth the effort to restore this fabulous piece of Magirus engineering. |

Matthias completed this project some time ago. It was a very comprehensive time consuming job but the result is a truck that could have just been driven off the Ulm production line. |

Christian Toumpsin is involved in documenting a project to restore a Water Cannon Truck. Christian's pictures show the 1957 LWB truck on the left which will be brought up to match the standard of the SWB similar model on the right. The smaller model is owned by an ex-Police Officer. These purpose built vehicles are both driven by the same model F8L614 engine which powered other models including the popular S6500 of the same era. The finished truck is due to be displayed in an exhibition.
There is now a film of one of these great machines on you tube . Click HERE |

Günther is part owner of this well preserved powerful tipper. This V10 engined, 4-wheel drive, three sided tipper has bodywork by Bertsch. It looks really good for a 33 year old tipper but there are plans to restore and repaint the cab, and the complete chassis. Why did this model never come to the UK?! |

Notes : This is a real challenge !! Ashley's recipe, buy 'one and a half Magirus Deutz' from Ireland, a 'Dustcart from Germany', fit the German LHD Cab to the Irish RHD chassis, totally refurbish to his very exacting standards. Another 310D19FFS V10 Tractor Unit will be returning to the UK roads.
The project is now under way and Ashley has an interesting answer to a LHD to RHD problem.
The 'secret part' above has been cut from the old cab and is a piece of floor section which includes the gearstick mount. When this has been grafted into the new cab, and other RHD mods made, the whole cab will be receiving what promises to be a spectacular paint job.
Go for it Ashley ! You can do it. |
