                                                                                                                               >UPDATED 10/04/12 <

Hi, viewers.

I feel I must apologise for the relative lack of updates compared to 2011.

I have extra family commitments which I am afraid , must take priority.

I will of course update when time allows, and am still answering many emails.

Thank You for your understanding.

See the NEW 11 minute YouTube film from Berlin on restorations.

Any items with that distinctive Australian flavour have been relocated to magirOZ.

This has led to the links page has being relocated to the left column, here on the newly named 'news+ links' page.

I have now spent many hours bringing the site up to date.

I have not updated for many weeks.

I think that sounds better than saying months ?

I have been very busy recently, with Social stuff, Volunteer work and of course Christmas.

See the 'Red Head' News items below.

I will try to update more often, as one of my New Years resolutions :)

-------------------   As usual click on the BLUE links to go directly to the items. --------------------

* Australia See magirOZ for a working '54 V12 from Tony, and also latest pics from Kelvin

* Germany A New items from Berlin... See what a 4x2 Maggie can do offroad !! on restorations,

* Argentina, 2 items from this country... First, Eduardo who has the RS200 bus which is now on the restorations page, has added a Fire Vehicle to his collection which he also intends to restore.

Also I have had many emails from Mauricio who drives the neat looking truck below.

Not only is it neat but YES , you have guessed.. It is driven by an Air Cooled Deutz engine !!

'Radiator Removal' is becoming very popular in Argentina, and if you look at the deutz page, you can see many more examples. This repowering with Deutz engines is now becoming very commonplace all over the world.

I am receiving many emails asking , how, what, where this can be done in the interests of economy and reliability.

The short answer is YES it can be done !

There are gearbox and driveline convertors available in North and South America, and when I can I will be adding links to them.

* Norway See world maggies for another Ex-Military truck bought by Jens.

* Greece See maggies work for more amazing tippers.

* Germany See maggies work for another V12 Air Tug.

* Papua New Guinea See magirOZ

* UK Here is a picture of another model from the roads of the UK. This time it is a 1/24 replica of a very common sight on our roads in the '70-'80s. Tony built this beauty and tells us it is based on the truck his father used to drive. Although this one is carrying minis, Tony's Dads truck was mainly loaded with Peugeots.

Visit to : Magirus Deutz Treffen - Neustadt an der Aisch - April 2011.

I recently spent a great weekend in Germany at the 'Treffen' in Neustadt a/d Aisch.

I have put up some pics on my flickr album . <<<<<< Just Click here :-)

I think some will migrate to my website.

Who's that smiling in the passenger seat !!  A Lucky ME !!

On Friday 20th of May I headed off to Heathrow airport on a mission to see more Magirus Deutz Trucks that I have seen for years.

By 7pm the count was 4, and yes, thats more than I have seen in 30 years.

A couple of hours earlier I had booked into the 'Allee Hotel' in Neustadt an der Aisch after a short drive from Nuremberg airport.

Before going on about trucks, I must say that I have never been in an hotel as good as this.

I can thoroughly recommend The 'Allee' in every way.

If you are going to the area, visit their website www.allee-hotel.de.

On Friday I met the organiser Martin and along with his girlfriend, father and Walter, went for a meal.

At 9am on Saturday, I wandered the short distance to the Festivalplatz, and there were a few more trucks there now. Over the next hour about 50 more drove in as Martin organised them in to rows. Shortly after 10 the vehicle owners were gathered together for a presentation of 'Deutz' Champagne to 4 VIPs. I was rather taken aback when I was included in the 4.

I have never been regarded as a VIP before, and it was kind, but felt strange.

After this, most of the day was passed looking at the exhibits, including a 1935 M27 and a wonderful 340hp V12 drawbar prime mover. There was a large selection of fire vehicles and a unique Coachbuilt Ackermann drawbar outfit, owned by Walter.

I spent an enjoyable time, eating, drinking and talking to many people, and was made very welcome, by Walther, Jurgen and the two Michaels amongst others.

I met Michael Z. at the entrance when he drove up in his Red Striped 125 D10 as I have had on my 'trekking' page for years.

This wonderful day then got better when Michael S. asked me to be a navigator in his 1963 Mercur on a 50km 'Ausfahrt' or drive out through the local village and countryside.

Nearly 60 Maggies, nose to tail were quite a spectacle.

The weather was amazing which meant I had the window open to hear the Maggie Music.

At about 6pm I said Auf Wiedershen, to Martin his Dad, Michael Z, Michael S, Jurgen, Walter and Hans Diederich.

Thanks to everyone I spoke to, for making me feel so welcome.

I hope to return in 2013. See some pics on my flickr page.

**For some really Pro Pics see Gerhards wonderful Album HERE Thank you Gerhard.**
